Trial classes are free of charge. We love to give each student the opportunity to explore and participate in performing arts!
Progress
Celebrating each milestone is very important to us, this is why students receive a personal progress report at the completion of each term - sharing this joy with family and friends!
More
How many students are in each class?
We cut off class enrolments at approximately 6 students. This enables us to provide each student with the attention and support they need to flourish at Bayside Performing Arts.
Do students need previous experience?
No previous performing arts experience is required. It brings us joy to introduce students to our program, especially for the first time and to see their progress throughout our classes.
What do I need to bring?
We want students to stay healthy whilst in our care, so we ask they bring a water bottle along to class - let's stay hydrated! Any relevant medications such as an asthma puffer or EpiPen should also be brought along. Personal comfort items are also permitted on a student-to-student basis.
Can my non-verbal child participate?
Absolutely, our belief is every person should have access to quality performing arts education, despite their own personal challenges or barriers. We strive to adopt communication devices or additonal strategies into our program wherever we can, to optimise the experience of each student.
Do support workers accompany students to class?
Our Kids & Carer program is especially designed for students to participate with a guardian or support worker. In the rest of our programs, our students are working towards independence. This may look different for each student. Some students may have their guardian in the room during the whole class, some may commence the class with their guardian sitting next to them, some may be dropped off to class and picked up when they're finished. We understand the unique needs of each student and look forward to working with each student to find what works best for them.
Can students join partway through the term?
Of course! Students are most welcome and will only be charged accordingly for the remaining duration of the term.
Are the classes wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Both our physical location & class format are accessible and provide mobility adaptations for students using wheelchairs. When entering our venue, you will find yourself in a ground-level accessibility playground which includes a wheelchair swing amongst more playground equipment. During class, our teacher or assistant will adapt our exercises to the abilities of each student.
